Puppy Care

Congratulations on Your New Puppy!

Do you have a new puppy?  Congratulations on this wonderful addition to your family!  It is an exciting occasion for you and your family.  When you bring your puppy home, it is time to bring your puppy in for a visit with Dr. Noel, who will provide the care that your puppy needs to grow up healthy and strong.   Puppy visits are an excellent way to get your new pet started on the road to a happy and healthy life. Dr. Noel would like to take these important first steps together with you and your puppy.

Our comprehensive puppy exam will allow Dr. Noel to detect for any signs of illness to make sure that your new puppy is in good health.  She will answer all of your questions about behavior, nutrition, vaccinations, grooming, parasite protection, and overall health.

When you pick up your puppy, remember to ask what and when he or she was fed.  Replicate that schedule until your first puppy visit with us.

Please call today to schedule an appointment for us to meet your new puppy!

Free Vaccines for Life! Program
Vaccinating your pet keeps your puppy healthy by preventing serious diseases.  Puppies have different lifestyles and need to be given individual attention and consideration at vaccination time.  At South Arbor Animal Hospital, vaccine programs are tailored individually for each pet.

We offer a unique wellness plan that makes it a little easier to keep your puppy healthy.  Enroll your puppy in our Free Vaccines for Life program and every year they come in for their wellness exam - any vaccines they need are FREE! For more details, please see our "Free for Life Vaccination Program" page.

Parasite Protection is Important for Your Puppy
Puppy wellness visits also present an opportunity to discuss the best plan for parasite testing, treatment, and prevention. Dr. Noel and other staff members are well-educated about veterinary vaccines and parasite control, and our goal is to give you the best advice for your puppy.

Good Puppy Behavior Ensures a Good Fit With Your Family
Dr. Noel has a special interest in your puppy’s good behavior and in helping new puppies adjust well into their new home.  She can offer tips for introducing your new puppy to other pets in your home, children and other family members. Even if you are a very experienced pet owner and have had puppies before, each pet is unique! She welcomes your behavior questions and looks forward to addressing any behavior questions you may have. The more educated you are about your pet, the better you will be able to care for him or her, so she strives to offer you all the support you need.

What to Bring With You For Your Puppy’s First Exam
We ask that you bring the health information provided to you by the seller or shelter, which should include a previous history of vaccines and deworming, as well as a fresh stool sample.  And don’t forget your new puppy on a leash!
